Key Stage 2


Key Stage 2 consists of Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6. Daily English and Maths lessons are planned and delivered to meet the needs of  all the learners.

In addition the children have a spelling session three times a week. The groups are differentiated according to the sounds/ letter strings that the children need to practise.

Reading happens daily. During the week the children read as part of a class; in a group with an adult; independently read a range of genres; complete activities relating to the text they are reading and spelling/grammar activities.

Key Stage 2 take a creative approach to the curriculum through a whole school theme. These include 'Footprints from the Past,' 'Out of this World,' 'Time Tunnel' and 'I'm Alive'. The themes begin with an exciting WOW moment and encompass all the national curriculum subjects including the Humanities, Science, Computing, Art, DT and Music.

PE is also taught for twice a week. This involves a range of dance, gymnastics, ball and team skills/games. Year 4 go swimming once a week as part of the National Curriculum.

Children in Key Stage 2 also have the opportunity to work with Mr Halligan on music.
